Yasmine Al-Hussein, MBA

Investment Associate, Yaletown Partners

Yasmine supports early-stage Alberta-based technology startup companies as an Investment Associate with Accelerate Fund II and III. A dedicated contributor to the startup tech community and trusted as a team leader, she spends her time working with and investing in entrepreneurs throughout Alberta. Prior to joining Yaletown, Yasmine was a Deal Screening Analyst for Startup TNT where she focused on building relationships with tech founders and funders and undertaking research and due diligence to evaluate startups for investment. She was also involved in building out and growing an online forum platform for professionals in industries such as tech, power generation, oil & gas, and financial services. Passionate about entrepreneurship, Yasmine strives to assist new founders with strategic and business expertise from ideation to growth throughout her career.

Marco Donadeo

General Partner, Weave VC

Marco Donadeo is a venture capitalist in Edmonton, Alberta and a University of Saskatchewan Edwards School of Business alumni. During his undergraduate studies, he was awarded for excellence in managing the Dembrowski Student Management Investment Portfolio. Since then, he has continued to excel in his career and manage multi-million-dollar portfolios. He currently serves as a General Partner at Weave WC, Red Thread Ventures Director, Director of Deal Flow for Valhalla Private Capital, and a Board Member for the University of Saskatchewan. Donadeo is also an active member of society in advancing others’ knowledge on new business opportunities, entrepreneurship, start-ups and fintech through his presence in webinars and podcasts.

Luke Butterworth, MBA

COO, EPIC

Luke is a builder and innovator, a graduate of the University of Alberta Executive MBA, and a serial entrepreneur of 3 companies in Telehealth, Robotics and FinTech. In 2019 he became an alumni of the NEXT36/NextAI incubator in Toronto and currently holds the title of Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Alberta and NAIT. He is the Cofounder and COO of JustCook, a market and events platform that's on a mission to reinvent hospitality. JustCook currently has one market location in DT Edmonton, with a second under construction on Whyte Ave and a marketplace in alpha. Luke has a deep passion for creating new things, innovating on the old and helping others think of ways to scale their operations past the point of "local". He's always up for a coffee meeting or conversation with a fellow entrepreneur.

Allan Waine

Program Facilitator, Edmonton Unlimited

Allan loves kick-starting ideas — from dreams to programs. He brings experience in not-for-profit and cross-cultural educational leadership to Edmonton Unlimited, where he is responsible for delivering our curriculum in a dynamic and thoughtful way. Allan has experience leading workshops around the world and is excited to sit down with founders and establish their next steps. He is equally passionate about giving back to the community and has been involved in many humanitarian projects over the years. Currently, he teaches citizenship classes to help prepare immigrants to become Canadians. When Allan is not coaching basketball with his son, you will find him playing touch football or cheering on the Edmonton Football Team with his family. Ask Allan about: humanitarian work, world issues, geography, and culture.
